Compact Marking Gauge for Woodworkers: JessEm WOOD SABRE (08801)

Centuries have passed, but until now, nothing has been designed to enable precise measurement adjustments like the newly introduced JessEm Wood Sabre Marking Gauge. JessEm, renowned for their ability to transform basic tools into innovative ones, has once again demonstrated their expertise by creating a marking gauge that can be preset to any predetermined position.

Crafted from high-quality stainless steel and anodized aluminum, the Wood Sabre design ensures even pressure and control from 0 to 6. The beveled blade, made of A2 tool steel hardened to 60 RC, retracts below the reference face when not in use. The large stainless steel reference face, just under 3 inches wide and sitting 3/4 inches below the blade, allows for effortless sliding across the stock.

The key innovation of this product is the fine micro-adjuster. The main shaft is laser-engraved at every 1/2 inch, and the detents on the main shaft enable quick changes in 1/2 inch increments. The fine adjustment feature offers 1/16 of an inch per revolution, and the graduated collar allows for adjustments down to 1/256 of an inch. The sight window on the face of the gauge is referenced at 1/16th of an inch, allowing the user to monitor the setting of the blade.

Once the desired position is set, the stainless steel knob can be locked, and the user can proceed with their work. The versatility of the Wood Sabre shines when scribing lines for mortises, as the gauge can be quickly re-adjusted for a second line.

Before the JessEm Wood Sabre is shipped, the blade undergoes a honing and calibration process at the Canadian manufacturing facility, ensuring accuracy and precision.
