Narex has released a new line of Richter Extra Chisels in honor of their 100th anniversary. These chisels are the best ones Narex has ever made. They are crafted with high-quality materials, undergo superior heat treatment, and are manufactured using strict processes.
The blades of the Richter chisels are made from Chrome Manganese steel using traditional drop-forging techniques. They are hardened, cryogenically treated, and tempered to achieve a minimum hardness of 62 HRc. Cryogenic treatment involves cooling the steel to -190°C using liquid nitrogen, improving its strength, toughness, and wear resistance.
Afterwards, the blades are finely ground and polished to create a smooth, mirror-like surface. The chisels have thin sides, making them ideal for reaching into tight spaces and cleaning out dovetails.
The handles of the chisels are made from responsibly harvested European Ash. This wood is known for its strength, toughness, and attractive grain. The handles are sanded and receive a friction shellac finish for maximum protection, comfort, and control. The handles are also equipped with solid stainless-steel ferrules to prevent splitting, and leather washers to absorb the shock of mallet blows.
